The Story Behind This Shot

Arrowleaf balsamroot and purple lupine covering a sagebrush slope on the Acorn Creek Trail north of Silverthorne, Colorado, with the snowy Gore Range across the valley and pink clouds overhead in the early morning. The yellow and purple bloom only lasts a couple of weeks in early June, right as the last snow is leaving the high peaks. Acorn Creek is one of the first trails in Summit County to melt out each spring, which makes it a reliable early wildflower walk. A fresh, colorful spring print with a big mountain view.
