The Story Behind This Shot

Pink alpenglow lighting the Castles and the red rock ridge above a valley of gold and orange aspens, with a violet sky overhead and fresh snow on the high ground, from Ohio Pass near Crested Butte, Colorado. This is the moment before the sun clears the horizon, when the peaks light up and the forest is still cool. Standing alone on the pass in the dark and watching it arrive is the whole reason to go. A saturated, vertical mountain sunrise print and a natural best seller for fall.
