The Story Behind This Shot
A bald eagle perched on a weathered cottonwood branch at Barr Lake State Park, Colorado, bending down over a meal held in its talons. The bright winter sky behind it turns the white head into a crisp highlight against the dark feathers. Barr Lake, northeast of Denver, has one of the most reliable winter bald eagle populations on the Front Range, and on this New Year's Day there were too many to count. A detailed wildlife print for a den or office.
