The Story Behind This Shot

Daybreak over the beaver ponds on Kebler Pass near Crested Butte, Colorado, with a West Elk peak catching faint light above hillsides of gold aspen and a marsh of willows in the foreground. The orange glow on the horizon and the soft light keep the colors rich without harsh contrast. This one came from a pre-dawn drive from Denver, which says a lot about how good the aspens are here.
