- Sky Pond — A 9.4-mile out-and-back near Estes Park and one of the more demanding day hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park, with the reward being a genuinely dramatic cirque lake. It's open year-round, best June through October, and dogs aren't permitted on the trail — the Sharkstooth spire above the lake is the compositional anchor most people come for, and it holds light well into the morning.
