The Story Behind This Shot

A long exposure stretches fast-moving clouds into streaks above the snow-covered Collegiate Peaks near Buena Vista, Colorado, with a snowy valley dotted with juniper and pinon in the foreground. The Collegiates are a string of fourteeners named after universities, including Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Columbia, lining the west side of the Arkansas Valley. A slow shutter turns a cold, windy day into something full of motion. A big, open mountain print with a lot of energy.
