The Story Behind This Shot
The moon setting over the ridge above Lake Haiyaha in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, with the water glowing turquoise among the granite boulders and the cliffs above Chaos Canyon catching the first warm light. The lake turned this unusual color in the summer of 2022, when fine rock flour from a melting rock glacier upstream clouded the water. Twisted limber pines frame the view on both sides. A vivid, otherworldly alpine print unlike anything else in the park.
