Mount Sneffels Overlook (Ridgway)

About Mount Sneffels Overlook
The ranch country west of Ridgway along Highway 62 toward the Dallas Divide has some of the most famous mountain views in Colorado, with the jagged Sneffels Range rising above pastures, aspen and scrub oak. Pullouts along the highway and the county roads that head south toward the range let you frame Mount Sneffels and its neighbors without a hike. Summer brings green fields and big afternoon clouds, and late September is one of the classic fall-color drives in the state. Clear mornings put warm light on the summits, and old barns, fences and the odd abandoned truck make good foregrounds. Most of the land is private ranch property, so shoot from the road and the pullouts and stay outside the fences.
