The Story Behind This Shot
The Milky Way rising over a lone white church on the plains near Abbott, Colorado, with red light glowing from its three windows and a small outhouse standing off to the side. The eastern plains have some of the darkest skies in the state, which is why the core of the galaxy shows this clearly before dawn in April. A long exposure on a tripod gathers the stars while the glowing windows give the scene warmth. A quiet, nostalgic night-sky print with a lot of character.
